Kiwi
the emerald delight

Drop a bomb full of vitamin C to your everyday diet
This healthy, unique fruit also grows in Greece, adding an exotic touch to Mediterranean diet.
The kiwifruit is packed with more vitamin C than an equivalent amount of orange. These emerald delights contain numerous phytonutrients as well as vitamins and minerals that boost your health. Kiwi contains a variety of flavonoids and carotenoids with proven antioxidant activity, and according to ongoing research, kiwi has the ability to protect DNA in the nucleus of human cells from oxygen-related damage.
It is an excellent source of vitamin C, and polyphenols, and a good source of potassium, all of which may function individually or in concert to protect the blood vessels and heart. Moreover, eating such a vitamin C-rich fruit as kiwi may confer a significant protective effect against respiratory symptoms associated with asthma, like wheezing.
The fruit is rail and is edible, sweet and sour-taste. The outer part is brown and the inside is juicy, green and with small seeds of black color.

Description

The plant thrives in fertile and moist soils. The kiwi in order to thrive needs areas with mild winters and hot, humid summers. As a result, it is grown mainly in Pieria, near to the river of Sperchios, in the areas of Arta, Fthiotida, Pella and on the island of Crete. Our kiwis are from Pieria and they are P.G.I.
