Kalamon or Kalamata Olives PDO

 
 

This type of olive is considered as a superior variety of edible olives which thrives in an arid environment with dry and low moisture soil in order the fruits to grow.

·         produced in Southern Greece around the region of Kalamata, Messinia

·         it’s a Protected Designations of Origin (PDO) product

·         naturally sun-ripened on the tree before harvest

·         dark brown to deep violet color, conical-cylindrical shape, usually weight from 5 to 6gr.

 

Description

exude a salty and tangy taste that could give a nice kick to any food dishes. Used as appetizers, in tapas and salads, in the famous greek choriatiki salad and in many other recipes

You can have them whole, engraved, pitted or sliced
